BUDDING WRITERS GET CHANCE OF BEST-SELLING FAME WITH FORD FIESTA AND LOCAL AUTHOR 

BRENTWOOD, 7 April, 2004 -- One of Britain's best-selling 'chick lit' authors and local girl, Carole Matthews, has partnered with Ford Fiesta in a competition to find a future budding writer. 

The challenge is to write a story of no more than 2,000 words, which should include a Ford Fiesta.  The winning story will be published on ford.co.uk/fiesta, madaboutbooks.com and carolematthews.co.uk.  The Ford website alone is visited by around 20,000 people every day.  The lucky winner will be given a Fiesta to drive for six months, and the chance to meet Carole Matthews for lu2004. 

Carole began her writing career by winning a short story competition.  She has written seven best selling novels and will be judging the competition.  When asked for the recipe for success, she said: "Writing short stories is a great, fun way of building up a literary CV.  It was certainly the catalyst that started my career as a novelist.  The road to success is open to everyone – you've just got to have the determination to head down it!"
